バックグラウンド:This gene encodes a protein that is similar to members of the CaiB/baiF CoA-transferase protein family. Mutations in this gene are associated with glutaric aciduria type III. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
UniProt Protein Function:SUGCT: Defects in C7orf10 are the cause of glutaric aciduria type 3 (GA3). GA3 is a metabolic disorder due to peroxisomal glutaryl-CoA oxidase deficiency and characterized by the excretion of abnormal quantities of glutaric acid but low 3- hydroxyglutaric acid. Belongs to the CaiB/BaiF CoA-transferase family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
