バックグラウンド: | Core component of nucleosome. Nucleosomes wrap and compact DNA into chromatin, limiting DNA accessibility to the cellular machineries which require DNA as a template. Histones thereby play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, also called histone code, and nucleosome remodeling. |

IHC image of RACO0039 diluted at 1:100 and staining in paraffin-embedded human testis tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. | |
Western Blot. Positive WB detected in Mouse brain tissue, Rat liver tissue, Rat lung tissue. All lanes Histone H2B type 1-K antibody at 0.16µg/ml. Secondary. Goat polyclonal to rabbit IgG at 1:50000 dilution. Predicted band size: 14 KDa. Observed band size: 14 KDa. |
UniProt Protein Function: | H2B1K: a core component of the nucleoosome. The nucleosome, a basic organizational unit of chromosomal DNA, is octrameric, consisting of two molecules each of histones H2B, H2A, H3, H4. The octamer wraps approximately 147 bp of DNA. Protein type: DNA-binding Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p21.33 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; extracellular space; nucleosome; nucleus Molecular Function: DNA binding; protein heterodimerization activity Biological Process: establishment and/or maintenance of chromatin architecture; defense response to Gram-positive bacterium; innate immune response in mucosa; antibacterial humoral response |

NCBI Summary: | Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer, around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped in repeating units, called nucleosomes. The linker histone, H1, interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and functions in the compaction of chromatin into higher order structures. This gene encodes a replication-dependent histone that is a member of the histone H2B family. The protein encoded is an antimicrobial protein with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Two transcripts that encode the same protein have been identified for this gene, which is found in the histone microcluster on chromosome 6p21.33. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015] |
